There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Hubbard with the Rev. Michael D. Balash officiating for his father, Michael Balash age 79, who passed away Sunday October 9, 2011 at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House Poland, Ohio after a brief illness.
Michael was born November 8, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of Peter & Anna Karpovich Balash.
He was a 1949 graduate of Hubbard High School. He enjoyed golf and played in a number of area leagues.
Michael was the finance manager for over 30 years at Dial Finance in Youngstown. After retiring he worked at Trumbull Industries and also held other positions including working at Deer Creek Golf Course Hubbard.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He was a veteran of United States Coast Guard.
He will be sadly missed by his family; his wife the former Dorothy J. McLandric whom he married April 18, 1959; and his children, Father Michael D. Balash of St. William Church Champion, Dana (Kim) Balash of Poland, Brian (Zina) Balash of Bridgeport, W.VA., Douglas (Melanie) Balash of Hudson, Melissa (Brian) Shields of Hubbard and eight grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Jessica, Brooke, Brennan, Joshua, Hannah, and Mia.
He also leaves his sisters Mary Baldine, Jay Bolchalk, Pauline Longo all of Hubbard, Helen Mirkovich of Beaver, PA., and his brother William Balash of Struthers, Ohio.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Steve Balash, and his sister Ann Stefanick.
There will be calling hours on Tuesday October 11, 2011 from 5-8 PM with prayers on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at 10 AM at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home Hubbard.
Burial will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
