Our thoughts are with your family. May the words in John 11:20-27 give you comfort.

So sorry to hear the news. My heart and my prayers go out to all of you. Don was not only a colleague, but a friend for my 17 years at Hubbard High School. He was a wonderful teacher and a good person. May your happy memories sustain you through this sad time. May you find comfort in knowing he is at peace and no longer suffering. With sincere sympathy, Jan

To the Hurst Family, I had Mr. Hurst for Woodshop at HHS. He was more than a teacher to me, and ALL his students, Mr. Hurst was your friend! Under his guidance, we started THE INDUSTRIAL ARTS CLUB! He always had time to listen, no matter how small or how big our problems were. He would listen, sometimes that was the best answer ANYONE could give! What he could do with a simple piece of wood was a miracle! Going to HIS shop class was a true joy! Wnen it ended we'd always wish it was longer then just 60 minutes! He was LOVED! He was RESPECTED! Thanks Mr. Hurst for ALL your time you spent with us! A treasure in our memories! Jeff Roskie, Class of "72

Dear Gerri and family,

I am so sorry to hear of your husband/father's passing. I have been praying for you all. May the Lord uphold you in this difficult time and give you peace beyond understanding. A couple images come to mind as I remember him...being in your kitchen and him just talking and smiling...I am sure we were remembering something about when I was in high school. Also seeing him at the end of the hall talking with all the kids. He will be missed!

First of all, I want to express my deepest sympathies to the Hurst Family. It was my pleasure to meet Mr. Hurst back in 1996. We became friends instantly as we found each other enjoying by joking around, teasing each other and talking about Steelers and his favorite college football team was West Virginia. He had a nickname for me---only me was Little Alien Brat. I was so happy to meet him as introduced by my best friend Shawna---his daughter. There are so many memories flooding in my mind and cannot think of one single thing I'd like to say more because I am in shock of his passing. I realized that he's no longer suffering anymore, he's now up there somewhere in Heaven playing his favorite sport---golf. I am very sure that he's enjoying every minute of it...he's with his dog Cleo as well...Mr. Hurst, I am going to miss you terrible. Thank you for letting me be your friend and a part of your family. The tears just coming out of my eyes when I say because I just remember his smile...that was one sweet smile he had! Peace. Yours Always, L.A.B.
