Richard J. Brooks Sr

U.S. Veteran

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church of Hubbard with the Rev. Timothy H. O’Neill officiating for Richard J. Brooks Sr. age 85, who passed away Thursday November 28, 2013 at Sharon Regional Health System.

Richard was born August 14, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio a son of Armour & Genevieve W. Sanderbeck Brooks, and came to Hubbard in 1971.

Richard was a press operator, tow motor operator, and laborer for 41 years at Republic Rubber, Republic Hose Manufacturing retiring in 1989.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and the church custodian for many years.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Korean War.

His wife the former Jean B. DeRose whom he married June 14, 1952 passed away March 16, 1994.

He is survived by his children, Debra Jean Humphry of Girard, Richard J. (Norma) Brooks Jr. of McDonald, Robert Brooks of Hubbard, Raymond Brooks of Hubbard, Denise (Mike) Bettikofer of Youngstown, Lisa Brooks of Youngstown, and eight grandchildren.

He also leaves his brother Dennis N. (Mary Kay) Brooks of Hubbard.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, his son Ronald Brooks, and his grandson Sean Humphry.

There will be calling hours on Monday December 2, 2013 from 5-7 PM and prayers on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at 9:15 AM at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Richard will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery with full military honors provided by Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
